The Super Bowl is the championship game in the NFL. It is one of the most watched sporting events in the world, and takes places once a year. The Super Bowl was first played in 1967 between the champions of the two biggest professional football leagues at the time: the AFL and the NFL. The AFL and NFL would formally merge a few years later in 1970, with the Super Bowl being played annually since that first game in 1967.
